Brea, Calif. (May 23, 2007) — Orange County-based Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI), the nation’s oldest and largest provider of pet health insurance, announced today that insurance industry veteran Lynne C. Miller, Associate in Claims (A.I.C.), has joined the company as compliance director. With nearly three decades of relevant experience, Miller will be responsible for assessing, improving, administering, and overseeing VPI’s Corporate Compliance Program.

“As a rapidly-expanding enterprise operating under state-specific insurance mandates, it’s imperative that we remain focused on statutory compliance,” said Phil Grevin, vice president and general counsel for VPI. “Bringing with her a solid track record of implementing initiatives that match the insurance regulatory environment, Lynne will play a pivotal role in ensuring company-wide adherence to ethical and governmental guidelines.”

While assuming management of VPI’s Corporate Compliance Program, Miller’s related responsibilities will include: supervising the company’s Compliance Department; serving as an expert on compliance matters requiring external reporting; managing VPI’s ethics program according to government guidelines and industry best practices; developing internal programs designed to educate and communicate the importance of compliance best practices; and ensuring that VPI is in compliance with applicable laws.

Miller’s extensive experience in insurance regulatory compliance and claims litigation includes management positions with Reliance Insurance Company, Balboa Life and Casualty, Assurant Group, and WNC First Insurance Services. In her most recent post as branch manager for Crawford Technical Services, she resuscitated a failing claims management operation, lifting the outfit from near closure to a ‘B’ insurance rating in less than a year.
